Polymer clay, which is a PVC (polyvinyl chloride) based sculpting material. It contains no actual clay or clay minerals and is only called clay because of it's malleable properties. Polymer clay hardens/cures in an oven to become a durable product that, when treated with care, can last indefinitely. Polymer clay can be broken and scratched, always treat it as you would any fine jewelry. Most of my pieces do not have fine, delicate details, but those that do should be treated with extra care.
How do I get the metallic look?
Much of my work has faux metal finish that I get from various mica powders, metallic paints, and waxes. These are surface treatments on top of the clay that, while I do apply several coats of sealer to, they will be prone to scratching as any painted surface might. These pieces should be stored appropriately and I do not recommend they be used as key chain fobs.
Do I take custom requests?
Not at the moment. I love hearing ideas though!
Am I planning to do tutorials?
Yes, but have not even started yet, what would like to see in a tutorial from me? You can find my first polymer clay tutorial in the April 2011 issue of Polymer Cafe, it's my Industrial Scrap Pendant. Check it out and learn how I use cookie cutters in my work, how to make faux screw heads, and try your hand at using mica powders and metallic wax. But I am open to suggestions about tutorials!
Do I use molds?
The bulk of my work simply doesn't work well with molds. Polymer clay can be used in molds that are shallow for good impressions, but it can be impossible to get a good impression from deeper molds because the clay will distort upon removal. I have made casts for a couple of pieces that are very difficult to duplicate, these casts get me a basic shape that I then refine and embellish. All my work is original, handmade and designed by me, I try to make each piece unique!
Where do I get my ideas?
A lifetime of sci-fi TV, movies, and books? I find other art and polymer clay work very inspiring, as well, I especially love anything that's 'outside the box' and am particularly inspired by those.
Do I offer wholesale or bulk pricing?
No, I do not. Each piece is entirely hand made by me and pricing for wholesale would be impossible. I'm also still evolving so much, the last thing I want to do is end up having to make hundreds of the same thing when I really want to move onto other things.
I do not accept money orders or personal checks. I accept PayPal and direct Credit Card checkout. This shop's checkout is secure using an SSL from 3dcart where my cart is hosted and my credit card processor is Propay.
As a part of PayPal's polices, If you pay via PayPal I must ship to the address in your PayPal payment. If you want your order shipped to an address other than the one in your PayPal profile, please edit the 'address to ship to' when checking out on PayPal, you can easily enter a 'gift' address at that time.
I am currently only shipping to the US. Because I get lots of emails regarding this, I will state my reasons here. USPS is the only reasonable way for me to ship small packages out of the US and in 2012 they made huge increases in their international shipping costs. On top of that, an increasingly large number of my international packages did not reach their destinations leaving me to require insurance on all international packages. The cost for shipping internationally simply became too high. On top of that, I no longer have the leisure to stand in line at the post office waiting to mail these packages because of my job's work hours. I am sorry for this, but it is what it is.
Polymer clay items are wrapped in tissue then shipped safely in a cotton lined kraft jewelry box with a gift card and inside a bubble mailer or box, depending on the size of the order.
I ship via USPS First Class and Priority with delivery confirmation. I will be shipping 2x a week, Monday or Tuesday and Friday or Saturday.

If for some reason you're unhappy with your purchase please contact me IMMEDIATELY. You may ship the item back to me at your expense and in the same manner it was shipped to you. I will accept undamaged returns within 10 DAYS of delivery and refund the price of the item minus shipping fees. I will accept returns on custom orders on a case by case basis. These policies are based on the fact that they are handmade, one of a kind pieces, and that I am not WalMart.
Yeah, I'm so not going to be sharing anyone's personal information, that's just not what this is about =) As far as credit card information goes, I don't ever see it and it is not stored.
Hmmmm, what else to put here? Open to suggestions! firstname.lastname@example.org
